Religious school begins with pre-kindergarten and continues through high school. Students receive training for Bar/Bat Mitzvah, with confirmation at the end of tenth grade and more educational opportunities through high school graduation. The religious school is exclusively for members of Beth Shalom, supported both by the Congregation’s budget and by tuition and fees. Parents are encouraged to be involved throughout their children’s religious education.
We are excited to welcome students and families to the 2024-25 school year! We will create a bustling online educational environment this year with many new and exciting options for learning and community. Some programs we are using in the classrooms include Shalom Learning for grades K-5 including “Learning Hebrew Side by Side”; Moving Traditions for our 6th through 10th grade students as they navigate the B’nai Mitzvah process and Jewish Identity, and a partnership with IsraelLink for our 7th graders to learn more about modern Israel through interactive online lessons.
New this year we will also begin holding special events throughout the year as part of our “Unity in the Community” initiative aimed at building relationships between students/families/staff. These evets will be announced ahead of time and are certain to be a memorable occasion not to be missed.
School Schedule
Grades PreK-10th will meet on Sundays from 9:30AM-12:00PM. Music class will be held weekly for students in PreK-2nd Grade. Shacharit (morning prayers) will be held for all students each Sunday. All students will learn Israeli dance with monthly lessons as well as continue participating in grade level family programs throughout the year.
Grades 4-7 will be meeting with their individual mentor at mutually specified times during the week. This shift in our Hebrew approach will allow for customized learning for each child, undivided attention from their teacher, and flexibility for families in terms of location and timing.
